YTL Developments has been granted planning permission for the next phase of new homes at Brabazon, the new neighbourhood for Bristol taking shape on the site of the historic former Filton Airfield.

The designs for the second phase retain many of the distinctive features that have made The Hangar District – the first phase at Brabazon – such a success.

Each house features picture windows that flood the homes with natural light, as well as clever layouts and a range of sustainable features that are all included as standard. YTL Developments’ emphasis on sustainability means that this second phase of new homes exclude gas-based heating entirely. Instead, heating will be provided through air source heat pumps, reducing reliance on natural resources.

The attention to detail continues outside, with intricate brickwork and tree-lined streets among the details that make each home so distinctive.

The plans for the new phase – created by award-winning local architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios – aim to foster a strong sense of community. The new homes are designed on a network of “living streets”, with residents able to enjoy expanded access to outdoor spaces that bring people together, including shared gardens, public squares and play areas for children.

Construction on this next phase of new homes – located adjacent to the Aerospace Bristol Museum – is scheduled to begin later this Summer, with the first homes scheduled for completion in late 2024.

Sebastian Loyn, Planning and Development Director at YTL Developments, expressed his excitement, stating:

“This is the next chapter in creating a thriving new neighbourhood for Bristol. We continue to innovate, creating new styles of living spaces, streets and public realm.

“These new homes at Brabazon are unique within Bristol. We believe that places are as much about people as they are about buildings, which is why the design for the latest phase focuses on fostering a new community at Brabazon.

Brabazon is being transformed into the most dynamic new city district in the South West. With the supersonic YTL Arena, Brabazon Park, Hangar 16U, a new rail station, and a MetroBus all scheduled for completion in the coming years, these homes are set to be among the most desirable addresses in the city.”
